The awards are given in memory of former Northampton standout Christian Luciano, a three-time PIAA Class 3A medalist (1998 champion) who finished with 143 career victories, by parents Michael and Susan Luciano. Christian Luciano died in a car accident in 2007 at age 28. In 1998, Christian Luciano recorded 29 pins and won a PIAA wrestling title as a Northampton High senior. He was the winner of the prestigious Schalles PA Pinner Award in 1998.
